We apologize for the lack of reviews and posts Since mid-October. Our Grandfather has been very ill and took a turn for the worse; so we took a hiatus and stepped away from all things social networking. We are back and the reviews are going to be rolling in!

Hollowland Review
Hollowland by Amanda Hocking
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
"Um..... Can I say brains?" (insert laugh here) In Hollowland, by Amanda Hocking, a virus that turns humans into flesh-eating zombies is quickly spreading. Humans are evacuating everywhere and gathering into "zombie-proof" quarantines.
Then one day a quarantine gets attacked. The government officials flee, taking a boy named Max. Remy (Max's sister), along with two girls, escape. Now they need to find Max AND a new quarantine to escape. Can they survive this "brain" new world? Find out in Hollowland, by Amanda Hocking. (Seriously, you should be laughing)

Tenth Grade Bleeds
It's another sucky year at Bathory High for Vladimir Tod. The evil vampire D'Ablo is hunting for the ritual that could steal Vlad's powers. His best friend Henry doesn't want to be his drudge anymore. And as if all that weren't enough, it's getting harder for Vlad to resist feeding on the people around him. When months go by with no word from Uncle Otis and D'Ablo shows up demanding Vlad's father's journal, Vlad realizes that having a normal high school year is the least of his concerns. Vlad needs to act fast, and even his status as the Pravus won't save him this time . .
My Review:
When Vladimir Tod goes back to Bathory High for his second year of high school, it's anything but normal.
When Diablo shows up to Vlad's house trying to talk Vlad into giving him his Father's journal and Vlad's uncle Otis isn't answering him telepathically, things start to get weird.
In this page turning novel of action, comedy, suspense, and love - Vladimir Tod has some tough questions that need answering: Is the love of his life Meredith safe around him? Is he and Henry going to stay friends? Finally, is he the Pravus that is prophesied to enslave the human race and be ruler of the vampires or is he just a screwed up freak to both humans and vampires?
My Rating:
5 Stars

Book Review: The Son of Neptune
"In the first pages of this standalone sequel to The Lost Hero, Percy Jackson remembers only his name and the name of Annabeth, a mysterious woman he associates somehow with the city of San Francisco. From those sparse clues, he must somehow complete a mission for the leader of the Roman camp even as he is being pursued by the two sisters of Medusa, who possess an apparently unquenchable thirst for vengeance: Even when killed, they spring back to life. Rick Riordan's second Heroes of Olympus promises even more excitement than the first."
In this second installment of the Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson has returned, but his memories are gone. He find's himself in a place Camp Jupiter, among Roman Demigods and for some reason, the monsters aren't dying. So, along with Frank and Hazel Percy goes on a quest while his friends face problems of their own. Will the doors of death close? Find out in the Son of Neptune.
I can see why Rick Riordan is the CBC Author of The Year and New York Times #1 Best Selling Author. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat (or in my case, bed). Once you open it, you can't stop reading this mixture of romance, mythology, comedy, and action. A MUST READ!

The Vlad Tod Chronicles ~ Ninth Grade Slays
"High school totally bites when you're half human, half vampire.
Freshman year sucks for Vlad Tod. Bullies still harass him. The photographer from the school newspaper is tailing him. And failing his studies could be deadly. A trip to Siberia gives "study abroad" a whole new meaning as Vlad connects with other vampires and advances his mind-control abilities, but will he return home with the skills to recognize a vampire slayer when he sees one? In this thrilling sequel toEighth Grade Bites, Vlad must confront the secrets of the past and battle forces that once again threaten his life. Find out why author D.J. MacHale calls The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod "Gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding.""
Heather Brewers love for vampires has done it again!
When Vladamir Tod goes to Bathory High for his first year of high school, he encounters issues with fellow students. Bill and Tom are worse than ever. The crazy stalker kid Eddie Poe is determined to reveal Vlads secret. Meredith (Vlads love) won't talk to Vlad after he stepped away from a kiss at the Freedom fest last year. And to top everything off, Joss - Henry's cousin has moved into town and has a dark secret nobody knows about that could change Vlad forever.
In this thrilling book about the number one pop culture icon of the 21st century (vampires) your breath will be taken away by the page turning novel about Vladimir Tod. But always remember - Ninth Grade totally SLAYS!

Book Review: Reckless
"Beyond the mirror, the darkest fairy tales come alive. . . .For years, Jacob Reckless has enjoyed the Mirrorworld’s secrets and treasures. Not anymore. His younger brother has followed him.Now dark magic will turn the boy to beast, break the heart of the girl he loves, and destroy everything Jacob holds most dear. . . .Unless he can find a way to stop it."
My Review: Reckless by Cornelia Funke (also the author of The Inkheart trilogy) is a book of the ages (in both ways). Combining the 1800's modern day, and fantasy realm, she has written on of the best books of the year! I reank it in my personal top 10 - Up there with A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Kane Chronicles!
In the luring and hypnotic pages, Cornelia Funke has weaved a spell even the Fae can't break!

Book Review: The Carnivorous Carnival
My Review: An interesting book to read, The Carnivorous Carnival (A Series of Unfortunate Events Book #9) is non-stop fun. But, BEWARE! If you are not a fan of ferocious felines, witty wolf-babies, or fancy fortunes: Don't bother reading this unfortunate book.
But if you enjoy rusty roller-coasters, pimply people, or clever counts; read this! The best book in the series so far. This Middle Grade novel is for anyone who loves books of treacherous tragedy. Snicket has written another great one!

Book Review: The Power of Six
"I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened in Ohio. John Smith, out there, on the run. To the world, he's a mystery. But to me . . . he's one of us. Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us—if we all still believe in our mission. How can I know? There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another . . . but our Legacies are developing, and soon we'll be equipped to fight. Is John Number Four, and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who may be strong enough to bring the six of us together? They caught Number One in Malaysia. Number Two in England. And Number Three in Kenya. They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio—and failed. I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.
And I'm ready to fight."
My Review: The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore, the epic sequel to I Am Number Four is a great read. If you enjoy suspenseful, epic, action-packed books with a bit of a love story hidden within; this is the right book for you.
When John, Sam, and Six set out on a journey to find the other Lorien Guard, they encounter trouble with the Megadorians and Federal police. The three of them have met their match.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning the pages until you are finished with the book! You will never guess what happens next, but always remember:
THEY WALK AMONG US!

Book Review: Welcome To Sanction
Welcome To Sanction Year One, Volume One Review
"Welcome to Sanction, the 3rd largest all paranormal town in the USA and Wind Haven High School accepting students from the werewolf, witch, and vampire community.
September 1: The Hawthorne Academy of Witchcraft is burned to the ground leaving the teens from Sanction's three biggest powers with only one place to go... Now if the Witches can avoid Non-Witches, the Werewolves don't tear anyone apart, and the Vampires keep their mouths shut Wind Haven High School might survive. IF..."
My Review: This is a great book that I highly recommend. A good read, that's point of view is shared between a Witch, Werewolf, and the only Human in Sanction trying to adjust to some big changes in the new school year.
The Characters:
The Characters:
- Nate: a Werewolf is trying to fit in after being away for several years and survive his abusive Father.
- Hope: a Witch (and my personal favorite) is prime suspect for the HAW fire while trying to make sense of some big changes.
- Jesse: a Human with the misfortune of living with the Vittori family (vampires) is trying to get along while the blood suckers, butt sniffers, and broom riders are all forced to be in one school.
The Sanction Chronicles is a series to read, and get hooked on. With monthly releases and an interactive website to keep you involved all month long.... This is sure to be a favorite for all!
